Never Grow Up

Taylor Swift wrote this song when she moved into an apartment by herself. She said the night she moved in, she started working on it, and by morning she was finished.

This song reminds me of my dad. When I turned 13, he said, "Oh! I thought you said you were going to be 12 forever!" He says this on each one of my birthdays.

Recently, I went with my mom and my grandparents to our cousin's going away party. She was going to the Army. As we left, we saw some little kids playing in the lobby. My grandfather hugged one of them. This year, their youngest grandchild went to pre-school.

"Those kids remind you of when we used to be little, right?" I asked him as we were walking to our car.

"Yeah," he smiled. "I remember when you used to have this little toy piano. When we would play it, you used to laugh so hard."

As we walked, I started to think of those days when I was little. I used to laugh at everything,. I used to love to watch those little kiddie shows that I can't stand now. I was just so... unaware of the sadness in the world. I was so innocent. Then I thought of this song.

My dad and I were talking about some 'growup' things. He said something like, "It was just so easy  when you were little. You never found  fault with me or your mom. We were your heroes."

When I was about 7, we were at a hotel. Dad, my sister and brother and I went to the pool. Dad told me not to go in it, but I was too excited.

I jumped in while he was helping my siblings with their stuff. I thought I could stand up, but it was too deep and I started drowning. Dad wasted no time. He jumped in and saved me. I will always remember that. Dad will always be my hero no matter how old I am.
I will always love my parents like I've never loved anyone before.
