Still I Sing

Here's a song I wrote a few days ago. I just got this beautiful tune in my head while I was outside one day and then wrote some lyrics for it. When I get better at the guitar, I'll write the music for it. It defines me in a honest way.

Still I Sing

I'm a kind of girl who likes trouble
Who plays double
Who's NOT very lovable.
I'm a kind of girl who has a song to sing.
But is too shy to say anything.
But I guess I'll sing this for You.

Oh God, Jesus
I don't why you even mess with me.
So even though I'm shy,
For you I'll sing.
Oh, God, Jesus
You made me and you redeemed me.
So even thought my life isn't my dream,
Still I'll sing.

I'm not sure what you were thinking
When you made me.
So even though I'm super shy,
You gave me a voice.
So I have no choice.
But to sing.

DEMI LOVATO HEART ATTACK!!!!

The wait is over! This is Demi Lovato's new song, 'Heart Attack'.

A Sweet Sorrow

This post is dedicated to a very good friend of mine who will be moving very soon. My friend, Michelle is going to moving in a couple of weeks. A week or so after I found out I'd thought I'd write a poem for her. I showed it her last Sunday, and she gave me permission to post it on my blog if I changed the last part. Some people just can't admit their secret love for a girly popstar by the name of.... Okay, I'm getting off subject.

Michelle and I met when we started taking writing class together. We have been in that class for at least three years now. It's been a long time. Michelle has always been super nice to me. (Actually she the one that invited me to YHOP) I'm really going to miss her, but I know she's doing this for God.

The story behind this poem happen a long time ago. We were in class, when for some reason, the teacher brought up William Shakespeare. Michelle made a comment about how she didn't like him, but she like Romeo and Juliet. To show my disapproval, I started gagging. "You don't like Romeo and Juliet?" she asks. "No!" I exclaimed. "They die at the end!"

Now that I have matured, I realize that it was rude. So, as I was thinking about this in the shower, I thought of that quote from Romeo and Juliet. "Parting is such a sweet sorrow." That's how I thought of this poem.

So here it is:

By: Sarah. For: Michelle .

A Sweet Sorrow

“Parting is such a sweet sorrow,” said Shakespeare long ago.

And now I read those words and my heart breaks.

Because I have to watch you go.

Where did the time go?

For it seems like only yesterday

When I meet you at writing class.

When I was at SWOC and watched you sing.

What’s happening? I wonder.

What’s God doing? I’m still not sure.

I’ll have to trust Him for now.

And keeping thinking what is pure.

I’ll miss talking nonstop during class.

And dancing to ‘Make A Move’. (That was a blast.)

I’ll miss watching Danny scaring you and hearing you scream.

I wish I could get those moments back.

When I would walk past you and try not to laugh.

Though parting is sad, we must remember,

That God has a plan.

He is the creator of all things.

And He has a reason for everything.

So though parting is hard, I must say,

It opens the door to a brand new day.

Even though I wish you would stay,

I’m happy for you anyway.

“Parting is such a sweet sorrow.”

Well, now I know that’s true.

But that next Danny tries to scare me,

I will think of you.

BTW, Ellie and I are SO HAPPY that we got second place in Noelle's contest. Once we watched the video, we started dancing. Actually, the reason I asked, question, How does God's love inspire you to love other people? because I thought it was supposed to be about love. When I read it again, I realized it could be anything and considered deleting it. It was a good thing I didn't because that question was the reason we won!

The Hunger Games

I thought I'd do a book review  this time since I love books as almost as much as I love music. Since this book was really exciting, and since I was surprised I got to read it, I thought I'd do a book review for The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins.

Book description: Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with every one out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games," a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed.

Good points: I liked the book, mainly because of how exciting it was. First of all, at the beginning of the book, Katniss steps in for her younger sister, the one she cares for the most, when she is chosen. That is an amazing Christ-like example. It reminds me of the Colosseum, how innocent people will just killed for entertainment. Peeta, the boy selected to represent District 12 in the Hunger Games, is also a good example of a Christ-like character. He repeatedly risks his life to save Katniss, even though he is supposed to be killing her, and even though she is not very nice to him at all. He is also a very good example to Katniss. Though she doesn't understand at first, he tells her, concerning the cruel government. "I want to die as myself. I don't want them to change me in there. Turn me into some monster I'm not.... Only a keep wishing to show the Capitol they don't own me. That I'm more than just a piece in their game." In the end, not only Peeta proves this, but Katniss does as well.

During the Hunger Games, Katniss alleys with a young girl named Rue. Her experience with Rue shows Katniss how wrong the Hunger Games are. Rue inspires her to go against the Capitol's wrong doings.

Since her father is dead, and her mother doesn't work, Katniss risks her safety by illegally hunting in order to feed her family. Also, she protects Peeta when he is ill, risking her life again.

Concerns: They are two main concerns in this book.
1. Violence. They is a lot of violence in this book. Many people are mercilessly killed by people or other things. In the Hunger Games, a group of the tributes team up to try to kill all the others. Many characters in this book, at times, including Katniss, are very bloodthirsty. Her best friend, Gale, advises her to compare killling people to killing animals when she hunt. "How different can it be?" he asks. 'The awful thing is that if I can forget that they're people, it will be no different at all', she thinks.

2. Romance. Though the romance of Katniss and Peeta is mysterious, it gets into detail, not explicit detail, but detail. They kiss a lot. To keep warm, they sleep in their only sleeping back together. They spend a lot of time together while Katniss takes care of him while he is sick. They don't do sex, but the whole kissing thing gets a little out of hand.

Other Concerns: Though this book brings down the government who underestimates of the value of life, it underestimates the value of life while doing that. People are killed without guilt and often. Some of it is just, some of it is not.

In order to get something Peeta needs, she tricks him by giving him sleeping syrup.
'h----' is used once or twice. The word 'sexy' is also mentioned a few times.

Conclusion: As you call tell, Collins presents a violent and cruel world. Katniss had no choice but to kill. There different views when it comes to killing for your protection. Concerning me, I probably wouldn't kill because I don't think I could do it, but if my family was involved I'd try harder. It just depends how much you trust God. Killing by means of revenge, which is what Katniss is leading up to, is definitely wrong. "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord." Therefore, killing is usually wrong. Though Katniss starts out as a angry, unforgiving character, her heart is definitely softened by the end of the book. Overall, the book was good and it makes you thankful that though your government might be unfair, it is not as cruel as the government present in this book.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. Definitely asks your parents' permission before reading.

"The greatest of these is love."...... REALLY?

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Aw, what a nice day. Of course, there has to be day to celebrate what the world loves most. Love. Ah. I'm single. (Isn't that obvious?) But that doesn't mean I haven't seen love. Though real love is hard to find, I can see it. I can see it in my dad when he forgives my mom or when he apologizes to her. I can also see it in my dad when he apologizes to me.

If you've been in a relationship, or if you're single, or if you're married, or if you listen to Taylor Swift, or Adele, you know that real, true love is hard to come across. You might think you've found it. You might be perfectly sure you've found it, but then something happens and you realize that you didn't find it. You've seen it fail so many times before. Your parents or a family might have divorced, or you might keep yourself updated on Taylor Swift. We all have seen it and I'm sure we're all sick of it.

Well, what is real love? Let's see what other people think of love.

"Love is a ruthless game/Unless you play it good and right," Taylor Swift sings in 'State of Grace.'

"Funny how the heart can be deceiving/More than just a couple of times/Why do we fall in love so easy/Even when we know it's not right," P!nk sings in 'Try'

"Real love happens sometimes. It's not just something we make up when we're nine," says Taylor Swift

"The smartest thing a woman can learn is to never need a man," says Demi Lovato.

"You know what hurts so much? It's when someone made you feel special yesterday, but makes you feel like you're a nobody today."

"When the one you deeply love hurts you, it forever changes the way you deal with anyone that attempts to get close to you."

"This time around I'm not coming back, I know it, this time is different. This time my heart is irrevocably broken, this time I want to do something about it. This time I want to walk away from you, and I hope this time is the last."

Sound like love is pretty hopeless, right? Well, now let's see what God says about love.

"Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
(1 Corinthians 13:8-12 ESV)

Well, even though earthly people fail, God never will. That's what these verses are talking about, and that's what those quotes are not. I mean, think about it. Taylor Swift's biggest hit from her new album is, 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'. Carrie Underwood's biggest hit is called 'Before He Cheats.' Though the world has a day to celebrate love, have they really seen real love?

You know what? I may not have a boyfriend. I may never have one. You may never have a boyfriend either. But that's just it! We don't need a boyfriend! What we need is God's love! His never will fail us, abandon us or cheat on us. We don't deserve it, but because Jesus died on the cross, we have the best love in the world, Jesus' love, the love he paid for on the Cross. The love that He went through so much pain for. That's the love we can have.

Sure, we might think it isn't as good as having someone sending us a valentine and telling us we're beautiful. We might think God's love isn't as good as having someone you can kiss, and hug, and hold hands with. The truth is that earthly can't be compared to God's love. It's just SO much better.

You've heard the saying 'Love is worth fighting for.' Well, yeah, it is. But the truth is that you don't have to fight for God's love. He'll forgive you every single time you mess up. He'll give you a desire for Him that NOTHING can take away. Instead of wanting to sin and mess up, you won't want to.

"The smartest thing a woman can learn is to never need a man."

Well, that's partly right.
You don't need a man.

You need God!

"All you need is love," I read on some guy's T-Shirt. First, I thought, 'Ha! What a joke!' But you know one of the things you need most is God's love. So when you see something like that, think of God's love for you.

"So faith, hope, and love abide, but the greatest of these is love."

And because of Jesus, I can believe that.

Heart Attack (Demi Lovato New Song Preview)

I can't wait! Love you, Demi! Hope this album works out for you and please come back to the X Factor. This song is going to be released March 4th!

Did anybody catch the Grammys last night? I saw Taylor Swift like I've never seen her before! (It was Alice in Wonderland themed) Britt Nicole didn't win! (Sadly) TobyMac did though. Hopefully, she'll release a new album and be nominated next year. Speaking of new albums, the deluxe version of Francesca Battistelli's Hundred More Years is set to release March 16th! Yay! If you already have the album, buy the new songs as soon as possible because as time goes by, you have to by the full album to get the new tracks. Also, Demi Lovato's new single is rumored to be called 'Piece of My Heart'. Unforuantly, we think she's going to quit the X Factor. I'm going to miss her so much. Well, that's all I got, so I think I'll be quiet now. I have to proofread my paper for writing class.

Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a  faithful Creator while doing good.
