October Baby

I love this movie!!!

Love is....

Today, at church, I was supposed to work in the nursery, but I couldn't because I might have the shingles.
I was disappointed, but it ended up being a blessing because our pastor was preaching about 1st Corinthians 13, which is also known as the love chapter.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

In this chapter, love is not a verb. It is a noun. At the end of the sermon, our pastor read it again and replaced the word 'love' with 'Christ.'

If I speak in tongues of men of angels and do not have Christ, I am a resounding gong or clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith so I can move mountains, but have not Christ I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames and have not Christ, I gain nothing

Love is Christ.

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and Christ, but the greatest of these is Christ.

Poor Britt Nicole!

Did she really try out for American Idol?

Ephesians 4:31-32

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malic. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you.

The sermon today was very good. Our pastor was talking about Chrstians being the body of Christ.

What I liked the most was when he said I can live without my hand, but my hand can't live without me. It's the same thing with us. If you turn away from God, and leave the body of Christ, it can live with you, but you can't live with Christ. It's just like our hand can't live without us.

You hear something great every day, right?

Dads are crazy

At a local fair we usually go to, my dad and I went on the Ferris Wheel.

Since I hadn't spent much time with him, I asked him if we could go. It was my only choice. The Ferris wheel is the only ride my dad will go on. He will get sick on any other ride, including, the kiddie ride, The Dizzy Dragons.

Dad wasn't sure about it, but when I said, "C'mon, you can be my date," he went. The second, the ride started, Dad made a big deal of of it. Waving his arms around, he screamed, "I'm on the Ferris wheel!"

Talk about kiddie.

But it was nothing compared to what he did when we got stuck on the top. Down below, the oldie, 'Old Rocky Mountain Tenensee' was playing on a stereo.
Guess what he did?
He started singing the song as loud as he could!
When I told him to stop, he started singing a song that he made up. "Why can't a big boy act like a little boy sometimes?" he sang.
"Not when you're riding the Ferris Wheel with your daughter!" I answered.
I wonder if he was trying to embarrass me.

Right now, I want to laugh about the whole thing. God picked out the best dad I could ever have. I am thankful for that.

Dad, if you're reading this, I would like to say something. These are words from my heart:

Get some singing lessons.

Ronan

Taylor Swift wrote this about a four year old boy who died of cancer. Reminds me of my friend who has a really bad type of cancer. Please pray for her

Innocene through Christ

This was for my writing class. I had a lot of fun writing it:

At the 2009 Music Television Awards, something terrible happened, which is not unusual since horrible things have happened at this award show. Taylor Swift became the first female country singer to win a MTV award. Winning the award for her music video, You Belong with Me, she trotted to the stage and began her acceptance speech. Horribly, the rapper, Kayne West jumped on stage, grabbed the microphone, and yelled about how he thought Beyonce’s music video was better. That stirred the media up.. After a year the incident was not forgotten, but dropped. At the 2010 MTV awards, Swift did a spectacular performance. Showing a short clip of the incident at the beginning, she sang her song, ‘Innocent’ from her most recent album, Speak Now. “Who you are is not what you did/You’re still an innocent,” she sang. “Every one of us has messed up too/Minds change like the weather/I hope you remember/Today is never too late to be brand new.”   This story shows us that God turns every mess out for good, even if it’s at the not-so clean MTV awards.
Now compare that to her most recent not-relating-to-love single, ‘Mean.’ At the 52nd Grammys, Swift and Steveie Nicks sang a duet in which she sang badly off key. The outcome was terrible. Saying that it was amazing how she could walk away with a huge award (which she won later that night) and do an earsplitting performance, the critics wrote many other terrible things. One of the main critics of her performance was Bob Lefsetz who criticized her on his blog. Then, two year later, Swift sang another song at the Grammys, called ‘Mean.’ “You with your words like ice and swords and weapons that you use against me,” she started out. In the chorus, she sings triumphantly, “But you don’t know/ Someday I’ll be living in a big old city and all you’re ever gonna be is mean.” Convinced that the song was about him, he talked about the lyrics on his blog, admitted that he was the leader of the pack of the critics of last year and she said, “I’ll let her win. I’ll give her the publicity she deserves.” I am still unsure he let her win. After surrendering, he complained about her ‘not acting like a woman.’ “She still can’t sing!” he wrote.
That is mean.
Now look at Swift’s lyrics. While predicting his future, she sings, “Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things/Drunk and going on about how I can’t sing/All you are is mean.”” Is he doing that? Yes. This song makes a point and is very encouraging, but look at the line, “All you are is mean.” When I looked deeper into that, I found out it says, “You’ll never changed.” Now compare that to: “Who you are is not what you did.” These are very different meanings. Which one does she really believes in?
We can never be sure, but we can come to an assuring conclusion: We are innocent through Christ, no matter how many mean things we’ve done.
I found myself singing this song at the weirdest times.

This is the song that inspired the title of my blog. I have to admit I haven't listened to it yet, but when I was thinking of a title, this song popped into my mind since I like Carrie Underwood.

God is there

Right now I feel like I'm falling apart. This is the hardest night of my life. Pleae pray for me. God is there. I want to believe that and I feel stronger as I'm typing this. GOD IS THERE!

But right now I'm just screaming out to him:

S.O.S!

When I am afraid I put my trust in You. In God whose word I praise, in God I trust. I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? Psalms 56:3-4

That's one of my favorite verses.

My Weekend

We went walked through a 'hiking' trail with our family who were visiting. It was... interesting. I couldn't enjoy it that much because my loving, faithful dog, Rudo practically dragged me through all of it. He was on a leash.  When will that dog ever learn to slow down?

Our new baby cousin, Austin was the highlight of my whole weekend! He is extremely cute and sweet. A lot has changed since my uncle got married, and I wasn't even sure he ever would!

Amazingly, Austin loved Rudo. He smiled at him and for once, Rudo wasn't getting into trouble! Until... Rudo tried to lick his lips. Poor Austin.

Maybe I should also say poor Rudo. It rained a lot yesterday and  Mom and Dad didn't want him in the house while we had company. The reason is because Rudo just loves people... a little too much.  If a human being shows up at our house, he runs to them, sniff every inch of their body, (and I am serious when I say that) howls his cute little head off, and curls his body up into in a little U shape.

So poor Rudo had to stay on the porch when it was raining. Our porch has a roof, so he didn't get wet and missed out all the fun.

Later that night, Dad did an interpretation of the horrible and self centered Christian band we went to go see last summer. He doesn't like stuff like that, but we found out at the last minute that he won a Christian radio station essay contest. The tickets to the concert were the prize. So we had to go.

During the concert, Dad was mad at first. It was understandable. When the song started, the lead singer ran all around the stage, screamed his head off, and rolled his eyes. He jumped on the side of the drums and on his piano bench. He actually looked like he was on drugs!

Then... when the song was almost finished, he did a 'grand finale.' Jumping on piano, he rolled over and looked like he died until the song ended. Then he got up, smiled, and said, "Thank you. Thank you."

The next band wasn't much better. Thankfully, David Crowsler, the main act, made us all happy we went. He was great!

As you can imagine, all of us laughed our heads off at Dad as he was doing his interpretation. That was probably the highlight of the day, next to Austin of course.

God bless!

Sarah

Hosea 2:23b

And I will have mercy on 'No Mercy'
and I will say to Not My People, you are my people
And he shall say 'You are my God'

(No Mercy and Not my People are the prophet, Hosea's children)
